ACTS Church Retreat

Texas, Mo-Ranch, Acts Church

When I landed in Texas on Saturday, I thought, ‘Whoa, it’s so warm. (It was in the 60′s)’ until I overheard someone (a Texan, I presume) say, “It’s so chilly today.” I had a good chuckle. ‘She would die in Illinois’, I thought to myself. The weather was perfect as far as I was concerned. And at the camp site (Mo-Ranch), man, the stars at night! Wow… incredible. Props to Paul Chouy for taking these:

It was great to see college students and young adults integrating together to make ACTS church work. Pastor Charles is doing a wonderful job. It was just a solid time of the Word, prayer, and fellowship (I hope :) ).

An Impromptu Q & A Session

On the last night, after everything was over, we somehow got into an impromptu Q & A session that lasted a couple of hours! My heart was burning (and my head was hurting) thinking about the young minds and hearts that are so pliable. Lord, give them biblical discernment. Help them to be clear minded and self controlled so they can pray (1 Peter 4:7). Help me as well, for I have a long way to go. (Edit: I was thinking some more about the Q & A time and why it was good for me personally. When a question is posed, you have a few seconds to assess and then address the issue. Meaning, unless you really have a handle on the subject matter, you can’t give a cogent and helpful answer. Godly conversations, not just asking questions for the sake of asking, are good for the soul, b/c it reveals what we know/don’t know. It helps us to assess our handle on the Word and the world. It helps us to look at everyday issues with a theocentric perspective. Lastly, it drives us to prayer. Since we don’t know it all and need his divine insight when we read his word, it cultivates in us a deeper humility to lean on Him and not in ourselves.)

Together

What a dynamic group of people I mingled with this weekend. What a privilege to be involved in one another’s lives. How beautiful is the church of Jesus Christ. We need to work together, pray for each other, love one another, as we do Kingdom work together.

  • Hi Pastor Park,

Thanks for coming to speak at our retreat. It was such a blessing to our church, and I know it’s hard to be away from family. Sorry about the intense Q & A session. I thought we were all just going to sit around and have a nice convo over cup ramen and next thing we knew, there was like the whole college group sitting in a circle and interrogating you. But thank you for answering questions. Don’t forget us!

  • Hey Pastor Park,

Thanks for speaking at a retreat. Usually to my shame I generally fall asleep at most of the sermons but luckily (and thankfully) I was awake for all four sessions. I hope that you won’t forget us.

  • Hi David, thanks for the comment.
For my facebook, yea just search Jong Park. Actually, a much easier way would be to just go to “My Story” page on this blog and click on my facebook icon.
